SAFA Officials in CAF Champions League appointments

South African Football Association (SAFA) Vice-President, Mandla Mazibuko as well as National Executive Committee (NEC) member Alpha Mchunu, have been appointed as Match Commissioners in two CAF Champions League matches.

 

 Mazibuko will be away at Somhlolo Stadium for the match between Royal Leopards of Swaziland and US Tshinkuku of DR Congo, while Mchunu will do duty in Zimbabwe in the match between FC Platinium and El Merrikh of Sudan.

Former referee Ian McLeod will also be in Zimbabwe to work as match commissioner in the clash between Hwange FC and El Amal of Sudan.
All three matches will be played on the weekend of 24-26 March 2012.

“It’s always an honour to serve in any capacity in football. The appointments clearly show recognition of the Association’s contribution on the continent and we will always be willing to assist where possible,” said Mazibuko.

Daniel Bennett will keep the South African flag high when he takes charge of the first leg last 16 CAF Champions League encounter between Recreativo de Libolo of Angola and Sunshine Stars of Nigeria. The clash will be held in Angola on the weekend of 24 – 26 March 2012. Bennett will be assisted by Bolo Lindikhaya and Sandile Dilikane, who will be running the lines, with Daniel Volgraaf acting as the fourth official.

Referee Tinyiko Hlongwane will officiate in the second leg last 16 CAF Champions League match between Dynamos and Muculmana De M of Mozambique in Zimbabwe. Hlongwane will be accompanied by Enoch Molefe and Zakhele Siwela as his first and second assistants respectively. Victor Gomez will be the fourth official. The match will be played on the weekend of 6 – 8 April 2012.
